Newborn (0–3 Months)
Designed for very small nostrils. It is important to exercise care and gentleness when inserting the tip, as the nasal lining in this age group is delicate and should be preserved with its natural moisture. Additionally, it is recommended to limit the frequency of use on this age group.
Long Reach/Gentle Suction (3 Months+)
The extended tip of the aspirator can reach deeper into the nostril while maintaining a gentle suction, making it ideal for those with sensitive noses. The smaller diameter of the tip also creates a gap between it and the nostril, resulting in a less powerful suction. However, it is important to be cautious when inserting the aspirator and avoid placing it too deeply in the baby’s nostril to prevent damage to their delicate nasal lining.
Power Suction (6 Months+)
The larger diameter of the tip allows it to fill any gaps in the open nostril, resulting in the creation of a vacuum that increases the suction power of the aspirator.
How To Use
- Gently insert the soft silicone tip of the Nasal Aspirator into your child’s nostril. Make sure the tip is inserted far enough so that it creates a good seal around the nostril.
- Hold the aspirator steady with one hand and use your other hand to hold your child’s head still. This will help prevent any discomfort or injury.
- Press the button and keep the aspirator in place for about 3 seconds while the suction clears out any mucus or congestion.
- You may rotate the nose tip to suction excess mucus around the opening of the nostril. You should hear a sound indicating that the mucus has been suctioned into the device.
- Do not perform the suction for more than 5 seconds at a time to prevent any discomfort or ringing in the infant’s head. The buzzing generated by the aspirator can be more noticeable to infants who are more sensitive to these sensations. Typically, infants who might be more sensitive to the ringing/buzzing sensations would range from newborns to about 12 months.
- Repeat the process with the other nostril if necessary and until the sound of mucus suction stops. This means the nostril pathway is clear.
